Objective of this role

Duration: Permanent

Salary: $40,000 - 47,000 per annum, plus paid vacation and benefits, based on qualifications and experience.

Location: Remote positions are available within the UK, US, EU, and Canada, subject to compliance with local employment laws. Applicants from other locations may also be considered, contingent upon legal eligibility to work in the respective country.

Reports to: MEER Core Leadership Team

Hours: The standard expectation for this position is full-time work at 40 hours per week to ensure comprehensive coverage and consistency in project involvement; however, we are open to considering part-time arrangements for experienced professionals, offering the same compensation for a 30- to 35-hour workweek, depending on applicants’ qualifications and location. Although working hours are flexible, the person in this position must be available for online meetings during core hours from 14:00 to 18:00 UTC (9:00 to 13:00 ET) to ensure effective collaboration.

Job Purpose:

Join our dynamic team as an Administrative Coordinator and work under the direct supervision of the Core Leadership Team. This role is perfect for a versatile operations generalist who is passionate about climate change solutions, improving and streamlining organizational processes during a period of growth, and engaging in impactful work that blends administration with communications. While administrative duties form approximately 50-60% of the role, a significant portion involves communications tasks, which may particularly appeal to candidates who enjoy being involved in comms, editing, and storytelling to advance our mission.  

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with various operational projects including regulatory compliance across different regions and enhancing cybersecurity measures.
  • Enhance operational procedures, incorporating innovative software solutions where feasible.
  • Support financial management, including liaising with our external back-office service provider, managing payments, payroll, processing invoices, and credit card reconciliations.
  • Assist in producing MEER's annual reports and other necessary reports for management and donors.
  • Assist with the day-to-day human resources tasks, including recruitment, onboarding, and maintaining HR records.
  • Ensure efficient administrative operations, including spreadsheet management, correspondence handling, and managing organizational email accounts.
  • Coordinate administrative support for the board of directors and manage logistical aspects such as planning and scheduling meetings, filing minutes of meetings, purchasing insurance, and planning staff travel arrangements.
  • Coordinate domestic and international shipments.
  • Drafting and editing content, managing outreach, and shaping messaging.

Skills and qualifications

Candidate Profile:

Essential:

  • Minimum two years of experience in an operational support or administrative role.
  • Proficient in financial administration tasks.
  • Advanced IT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and a talent for adopting new technologies.
  • Excellent analytical abilities and numeracy skills.
  • Highly dynamic, responsive, flexible, and self-motivated, able to multitask and operate under pressure and remotely.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of maintaining positive relations across diverse groups.
  • Proficient in written and oral communication in English.
  • Commitment to MEER's mission and values.
  • Legally able to work in the specified location (within the UK, US, EU, and Canada or another country).

Desirable:

  • Degree in a numerate field.
  • Experience in human resources.
  • Familiarity with non-profit governance.
  • Experience in organizational scale-up or expansion.
  • Interest in climate change solutions.
