Volunteer Human Resources Officer (Remote) - Join a Global Climate Action Initiative

About Us: MEER.org is a global non-profit organization at the forefront of climate change mitigation through innovative technologies, including surface reflectors and mirror canopies that reduce temperatures in urban and agricultural environments. As our projects expand internationally, we are seeking a dedicated volunteer Human Resources Officer to manage and support our growing team of volunteers and professionals working on groundbreaking climate adaptation projects.

This is a unique opportunity to work alongside leading climate experts, including Dr. Ye Tao, a former fellow of the Rowland Institute at Harvard University, and contribute to projects that are on the leading edge of climate adaptation research.

Role Overview: We are seeking an HR Officer to volunteer their time and expertise in managing all aspects of human resources, including recruitment, onboarding, staff engagement, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies. You will work closely with the directors to ensure the HR function supports the operational needs of MEER's various initiatives, fostering collaboration and alignment across the organization.

You will be expected to contribute between 5-10 hours per week, with flexibility to adjust the hours based on your availability and project demands

Job Responsibilities

* Recruitment and Onboarding: Manage the recruitment process, identifying potential volunteers and staff, conducting interviews, and ensuring a smooth onboarding experience.

* Volunteer and Staff Management: Provide ongoing support to our team members, ensuring their well-being, engagement, and development within the organization.

* HR Policies and Compliance: Ensure that HR policies and procedures are up-to-date and compliant with non-profit best practices, adapting them to meet the needs of a growing international team.

* Team Coordination: Work closely with the directors to align the HR function with MEER's operational goals and initiatives.

* Volunteer Engagement: Develop strategies to keep volunteers motivated, engaged, and recognized for their contributions.

Skills and qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

* Prior experience in HR management or volunteer coordination, ideally within the non-profit or charitable sector.

* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage and support a remote team.

* A passion for volunteering and working in a mission-driven environment focused on global climate solutions.

* Familiarity with HR best practices and non-profit compliance standards.

* Ability to contribute 5-10 hours per week, with negotiable and flexible hours to fit your schedule.
