Watch the Official Trailer

An early preview of the forthcoming feature documentary. The full film is still in production — this trailer is a first look at the material we have captured so far.

Please note: this is not the complete film. The trailer represents a small selection of footage from an ongoing production, and additional filming, editing and post-production work is continuing.

[ About the documentary ]

A feature-length documentary, currently in production.

This forthcoming documentary follows MEER's work across multiple countries as communities respond to one of the defining challenges of the twenty-first century: extreme heat.

Filmed on active project sites and shaped alongside the scientists, engineers and community leaders driving that work, it moves between the laboratory, the rooftop and the classroom to explore what it actually takes to cool a warming world.

Themes woven throughout the film include:

  • Climate science
  • Innovation
  • Field research
  • Community resilience
  • Practical climate solutions
  • The human stories behind the science

What to expect.

The film is still being cut, so we are not sharing chapters yet. These are the themes the documentary explores.

  • The growing threat of extreme heat

How rising temperatures are reshaping daily life across five continents.

  • Climate science explained

The physics of surfaces, radiation and Earth's energy balance, made accessible.

  • Communities adapting to rising temperatures

The people quietly rewriting what resilience looks like on the ground.

  • Innovative cooling technologies

Materials and methods being trialled from Freetown rooftops to Californian labs.

  • Scientific field research

Instrumented rooftops, thermal flights and the discipline of measurement.

  • Hope through practical action

What changes when a community decides not to wait.

[ Behind the scenes ]

Inside the production.

We are documenting the making of the documentary as it happens. Production stills, filming locations, interviews with the filmmakers and behind-the-scenes photographs will be added here as the film comes together.

[ Where the journey began ]

Our original 2024 documentary.

See where the journey began.

Before our new documentary was produced, this original film introduced MEER's early work, our first field deployments, and the vision that launched the organization. While much has changed since 2024 — including our technologies, research program and global activities — it remains an important record of our early development and the foundations of our mission.
