Independence through ethical support.

MEER is an independent nonprofit organisation dedicated to developing practical solutions to extreme heat through scientific research, engineering and climate adaptation.

Our work is made possible through the support of individuals, charitable foundations, research institutions, grant-making organisations and other partners who share our commitment to reducing the impacts of extreme heat.

We welcome support from organisations and individuals who share our mission. At the same time, we are unwavering in our commitment to scientific independence — ensuring our research and decision-making remain entirely independent of any funder's interests.

Our Principles

How we steward support

Scientific Independence

All funding is accepted on the understanding that it does not influence MEER's research, scientific conclusions, operational priorities or public communications.

Transparency

We are committed to using all funds responsibly, transparently and in support of our charitable mission.

Public Benefit

Every contribution supports research, innovation, field programmes and the development of practical cooling technologies that benefit communities experiencing increasing heat exposure.

Ethical Funding

MEER carefully considers all sources of funding and reserves the right to decline financial support where accepting it could reasonably compromise, or be perceived to compromise, our independence, scientific integrity or public trust.

MEER values partnerships built on mutual respect, transparency and a shared commitment to addressing the growing challenges of extreme heat. Maintaining our scientific independence is fundamental to everything we do, ensuring our research and decisions are guided by evidence and the public interest.
