Dr. Tao's Visit to i2cool: Advancing Cooling Solutions for Earth's Energy Rebalancing

Dr. Tao recently visited the i2cool team in Shenzhen, a spinoff from the City University of Hong Kong, to explore potential collaborations aimed at advancing sustainable cooling technologies. i2cool is renowned for its work on radiative cooling, a passive cooling method that reflects heat
away from surfaces without requiring energy, making it an exciting option for eco-friendly cooling solutions.

During the visit, Dr. Tao explored various cooling products i2cool has developed. One of their main products is a radiative cooling paint, which is applied in multiple layers to maximize heat reflectivity and emissivity. This paint has shown great potential for outdoor use, with a long lifespan and impressive cooling properties, making it suitable for environments where energy-efficient cooling is crucial.

In addition to the paint, i2cool is working on other innovative cooling materials, including fabrics that provide a cooling sensation, making them suitable for wearable applications. These materials offer exciting possibilities for different climates and industries, providing cooling benefits in a range of environments.

The visit also opened discussions about potential collaborations on testing these materials in real-world settings. With Dr. Tao’s expertise in experimental platforms, there is potential for MEER and i2cool to work together to further evaluate and develop these technologies.

The future looks promising for the collaboration between MEER and i2cool, with both organizations committed to finding sustainable solutions for global cooling challenges. As these discussions continue, the potential to integrate these innovative materials into broader climate initiatives becomes even more exciting.
