JOS-3 is a scientific model of how a human body responds to heat — how quickly core temperature rises, how much you sweat, how heart rate climbs. HeatLens uses it to convert environmental heat into predicted physiological strain.

JOS-3 (Joint System Thermoregulation Model, 3rd generation) is a 17-segment human thermoregulatory model that predicts skin and core temperatures, sweat rate, blood flow and cardiovascular response to environmental and metabolic inputs. HeatLens integrates JOS-3 with HESTIA-derived environmental fields to translate WBGT/UTCI/MRT into per-individual physiological strain forecasts.
